The Horologist (2025)

As a broken, middle-aged horologist undertakes a secret project, his actions begin to unravel his marriage. With both spouses harbouring secrets, will they be able to confront their hidden truths or will their bond be shattered forever.

The Horologist is a mind-bending, emotionally layered film that follows a reclusive clockmaker whose only connection to time comes through the broken clocks he repairs. Told through a non-linear narrative, the film delves into themes of grief, love, and the elusive nature of time—ultimately asking its central question: What does time mean to you?

Seven years in the making, the project began as a high-school creative writing piece by writer-director Joshua Urquhart. Early production attempts were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and creative burnout, but the story remained deeply meaningful to him. Following the success of his previous film Ozmar, Urquhart felt the moment had finally arrived to bring The Horologist to the screen.

Urquhart collaborated closely with actor and creative partner Taha Zonoozi—whom he previously worked with on Ozmar—to further develop the film. Over seven months, they crafted a narrative that is both structurally ambitious and emotionally resonant.

The Horologist invites audiences to reflect on their relationship with time. While its unconventional approach may not appeal to everyone, the film seeks to leave a lasting impression on viewers who connect with its philosophical and emotional depth—a story about loss, memory, and how time shapes who we are, and who we become.
